Board of Directors Annual Election
Help shape the future of The Club by serving on the board!
Most roles require only a few hours per month.
Election Date: June 12, 2026
Written Ballot Nomination Deadline: May 26, 2026
- Nominations are open for all board positions and will also be accepted from the floor at the election.
- Any member in good standing is eligible for election.
- New members must have been a member in good standing for at least three (3) months before
the Club election to be eligible for election to the board.

Board members serve one-year terms and help guide the direction of the club.

Expectations:
- Attend one board meeting per month
- Participate in decision-making aligned with The Club’s mission
Board of Directors Positions & Responsibilities
Current holder: Mike Checky
- Oversees all club operations and activities
- Presides over meetings
- Signs contracts and checks
- Appoints committees as needed
- Votes as a member of the Board of Directors
Extra duties currently performed by the incumbent, beyond the elected role:
- Sound System Coordinator
- Treasurer
Current holder: Dorothy Jones
- Assumes the office of President and performs duties when the President is absent
- Oversees publicity, flyers, and email communications
- Assists the President and fills in when needed
- Signs contracts and checks
- Coordinates the club website as needed
Extra duties currently performed by the incumbent, beyond the elected role:
- State Fair Coordinator
Current holder: Julie Elholm
- Serves as President of the corporation in the absence of both President and Vice President
- Manages correspondence and records
- Takes and distributes meeting minutes
- Maintains official documents
- Keeps hard copies and computer files up to date
- Mails cards (e.g., birthday, sympathy), and orders flowers/plants as needed
Current holder: None
- Serves as President of the corporation in the absence of President, Vice President and Secretary
- Manages finances and maintains financial records
- Provides financial reports at board meetings and annual meetings
- Tracks income, expenses, and receipts
- Ensures tax compliance and reporting
Current holder: Christopher Bernard
- Develops and maintains educational documents:
- Social dance curriculum
- DJ guidelines
- Evaluation rubrics for instructors, DJs, and venues
- Hosts instructor meetings every trimester to ensure understanding and alignment of curriculum
- Shares evaluation reports with board members on a monthly basis
- Ongoing coaching / continuing education conversations for instructors and DJs on an as-needed basis
- Defines and communicates instructor and DJ guidelines
Extra duties currently performed by the incumbent, beyond the elected role:
- Selection and booking of instructors and DJs as needed
Current holder: Christine DeGonda
- Coordinates greeters and registration at dances
- Coordinates a decorating crew and a clean-up crew
- Schedules entertainment such as spotlight dances or performance teams
- Coordinates instructor and DJ scheduling and communication:
- Makes an effort to schedule six months in advance when possible
- Ensures instructors and DJs have copies of the curriculum and guidelines
- Is open to hiring new instructors and DJs
- Obtains approval from the Board of Directors
Current holder: Jess Skjonsby
- Designs and posts social media graphics for Facebook and Instagram:
- Regular dances
- Staff bios
- Promotional posts (e.g., membership, important announcements, etc.)
- Maintains public-facing calendar available on WCSMN.com
- Creates FB events for upcoming dances (at least 1 month in advance)
- Cross posts events to WCS Minnesota group on Facebook
- Creates and manages a social media posting schedule
- Communicates with board and staff to coordinate photos, messaging, etc., as needed
- Creates printed signage and flyers
- Coordinates development and ordering of club merchandise
- Develops and presents member feedback reports for board review and communication
Current holder: Nicole Grottodden
- Maintains membership database and records
- Publishes member sign-in lists for dances
- Provides membership reports for board meetings
- Maintains and publishes membership directories
- Handles renewals and welcomes new members
- Issues membership cards
- Creates and prints renewal forms and membership cards annually
- Represents member interests in board decisions
- Proposes membership recognition programs and improvements
- Executes membership campaigns
